Temporary refuge for European journalists at risk

+++ new deadline for applications: 19 MAY 2017 +++

The ECPMF’s Journalists-in-Residence programme is designed to host journalists from across geographical Europe who face harrassment and intimidation in their home country. It provides a temporary refuge, a safe place to rest and to continue ones work and — if so desired by those being hosted — a platform to highlight threats to media freedom back home.

Key info at a glance:

  • Eligible countries: EU28, Russia, Belarus, Ukraine, Moldova, Turkey, countries of the Western Balkans and the Caucasus region
  • Timeframe of the upcoming residency cycle: July 2017 to January 2018 (individual arrangements within this timeframe possible to a certain extent)
  • Command of either English or German desirable (at least at B2 level)
  • ECPMF provides free accomodation in Leipzig, Germany, as well as a monthly grant of 1.000 EUR
  • Costs are being covered for visa fees (if applicable), travel to and from Leipzig, as well as for health insurance
  • The deadline to apply is Friday 19 May 2017
