EESC Civil Society Media Seminar: “Reasserting Europe’s values”

November 22, 2018 @ 9:00 am - November 23, 2018 @ 1:00 pm

The Communication Department at the European Economic and Social Committee (EESC), the advisory body to the EU institutions and acting voice of organised civil society in Europe, will hold its 12th Civil Society Media Seminar on the topic of “Reasserting Europe’s values” from 22 to 23 November 2018 at the Aegli Zappiou in Athens.

This event is principally directed at journalists and communications/press officers from civil society organisations representing employers, workers and the diversity of Europe’s non-governmental organisations.

This communication seminar focuses every year on a relevant topic discussed in the European media and engages journalists, academics, experts and civil society in discussion and debate. On the eve of the European elections, the EESC seminar will focus on the challenges and burning issues in contemporary Europe, such as multiculturalism, declining solidarity, growing nationalism and illiberalism and what civil society can do to protect a Europe which upholds its heritage of values – respect for human dignity and human rights, freedom, democracy, equality and the rule of law.

This seminar will engage journalists, academics, experts and civil society in discussion and debate and should also serve as a lively professional exchange between speakers and audience.

The event will take place at the Aegli Zappiou, Kipos Zappiou, 10557 Athens, Greece.

Interpreting will be available in English, French and Greek.
