Invitation
Unlike some politicians, the EFJ actively refrain from using the term “fake news” because it fails to describe the complexity of the “information disorder” phenomenon, and because it is being used by some politicians to discredit journalists. In our view, we must focus on two types of “information disorder”:
– disinformation, when false information is knowingly shared to cause harm;
– mal-information, when genuine information is shared to cause harm.
Discussing this issue and the EU’s new approach to tackle the disinformation on social media, the European Federation of Journalists (EFJ) and the US Embassy to Belgium have the pleasure to invite journalists and media workers for a public discussion on
