International conference “Current Populism in Europe and the Role of the Media”

Institute of International Studies at Charles University, Heinrich Böll Stiftung and Goethe Institut are organizing the 3rd Prague Populism Conference on 22 and 23 May 2017. The event will take place at Goethe Institut in Prague. The conference will deal with theoretical aspects of populism; presentation of empirical studies on issues such as media strategies of populist politicians; movements or parties; the way the media covers populism; the interlinkages between the media and political leaders; and the implications of media coverage on the political space. There will be a special part dedicated to comparative analyses of individual EU states with regard to the situation in the USA. The two-day event will be framed by keynote speeches by Hanspeter Kriesi from the European University Institute in Florence and by Wolfgang Merkel from the WZB Berlin.

The conference takes place under the auspices of H.M. Tomáš Zima, the Rector of Charles University.

Call for papers: applicants are invited to submit abstracts to mejstrik.m@fsv.cuni.cz by 28 February 2017.
