Right to Know Day

September 28, 2017 @ 9:00 am - 6:30 pm

Right to Know Day, Brussels, 28th September 2017

Organising parties:

ITCO intergroup, supported by Access Info Europe and AntiCor Belgium

Mission and objectives:

It is our mission to host an event in Brussels that brings together Freedom of Information (FOI) advocates from across Europe. The main objectives of this event will be:

  •   To celebrate Right To Know Day which is held on 28th September each year, by raising awareness about the right of access to information and sharing inspiring stories of FOI from around Europe
  •   To compare good and bad practices when it comes to Freedom of Information in different jurisdictions including the EU
  •      To share and discuss common challenges for FOI in different jurisdictions around Europe and the EU, and ways forward to overcome these
  •      To produce a common statement or call that identifies key areas in which more transparency is required – at both EU and national level – which will then be sent to MEPs, the Commission and the Member States
  •   To share and discuss challenges and successes of running Alaveteli Freedom of Information or other online FOI platforms, and to identify techniques for increasing the impact of existing platforms, including through the development of new features.
