ECPMF fact-finding mission to Macedonia

ECPMF, OBCT, SEEMO and EFJ are organising an important fact-finding mission to Skopje, Macedonia. The EFJ will be represented by its General Secretary Ricardo Gutiérrez. The mission will focus on the recent attacks/violence against journalists, which are, to our knowledge, often not investigated. There will be a press meeting to release a first statement on Friday, 28th, at 10am. In times of political gambling, minorities become the scapegoating target of populist leaders. In name of the freedom of expression, racist discourses are legitimised by the electorate choice of right-wing representation in the structures of power. Although some discourses are becoming obsolete, media magnifies the stereotypes and can influence the negative perceptions largely and inaccurately promoted and which is yet reinforced by strong political discourse.
