Book Launch ‘Mapping foreign Correspondence in Europe’
February 23, 2015
The Brussels press corps is dwindling, right? Wrong. OK,
but it’s still the world’s largest right? Again, wrong –
London and Washington D.C. are much bigger.
On 23rd February, journalism professors Georgios Terzis and Gareth Harding will unveil the latest data about the
make-up of the Brussels press corps and present the first pan-European study of foreign correspondents and their
reporting. If you are interested in changing journalism trends in Brussels and Europe,
we invite you to the book launch of Mapping Foreign Correspondence in Europe, edited by Prof. Terzis
and featuring a chapter on the EU press corps by Terzis and Harding.
Monday 23rd February 2015
10h00 until 11h30
Press Club Brussels Europe
This book represents the first Pan-European study of foreign correspondents and their reporting.
It includes chapters from 27 countries, and it aims to study them and the direction, flow and pattern of their coverage,
as well as answer questions regarding the impact of new technologies on the quantity, frequency and speed of their coverage.
Do more sophisticated communications tools yield better international news coverage of Europe?
Or does the audience’s increasing apathy and the downsizing of the foreign bureaus offset these advances?
