DW panel discussion on the future of Europe in the wake of
the British referendum on September 7, 2016 at 6:30 p.m. in Brussels
The European migration crisis has triggered a rapid rise of xenophobic, anti- European parties and has prompted many EU member states to become more inward-looking and nationalistic. The Brexit vote may result in contagion within the EU, threatening the very survival of the whole European project.
Even pro-Europe supporters agree that a wave of Euroscepticism and a deepening identity crisis are gripping the continent. Others regard the Brexit vote as a healthy wake-up call and what may be a last opportunity to thoroughly reform the EU. Are the values and principles that the EU was designed to uphold strong enough to save it? And what impact can the media have on the future of Europe?
The seventh edition of Deutsche Welle’s (DW) high-level panel discussion will focus on:
“Brexit, nationalism, the migration crisis – gravediggers of the EU? The impact of media on the future of Europe”
More information on the event will follow in due course. Registration for the event is already possible: deutsche.welle.bruessel@dw.com
