The international conference will bring together national and international journalists and activists to increase international attention and awareness of the plight of journalists and provide a crucial morale boost to the activists in Turkey. The conference will showcase the achievements of the project and the TGS, make the case for strong journalists unions and strengthen the platform and collaboration between journalists groups campaigning for improved rights and conditions.

The conference will bring together over sixty journalists, unionist and activists and experts on press freedom and labour rights.  They will address the key concerns facing Turkey’s journalists including press freedom, media law reform, safety, independence, working conditions and solidarity. It will provide a common platform for journalists to set out their demands for a reform of the media sector and an end to the physical and legal harassment of journalists.
