The international conference will bring together national and international journalists and activists to increase international attention and awareness of the plight of journalists and provide a crucial morale boost to the activists in Turkey. The conference will showcase the achievements of the project and the TGS, make the case for strong journalists unions and strengthen the platform and collaboration between journalists groups campaigning for improved rights and conditions. The Group on Fundamental Rights and the Rule of Law (FRRL) of the European Economic and Social Committee (EESC) is a horizontal body within the EESC tasked to provide a forum for European civil society organisations to meet and share their assessment on the state of fundamental rights, democracy and rule of law in the Member States. The OSCE is organising the conference “Freedom of the Media and Safety of Journalists in the Russian Federation and in the OSCE region: Challenges and Opportunities in the Digital Age”, on 6 November 2019 in Moscow. The conference will expectedly bring together more than 150 Russian journalists, experts from the media community and academia, policy makers, and representatives of government institutions.

The European Centre for Press and Media Freedom (ECPMF) and other organisations, including EFJ, are organising an expert talk on Anti-SLAPP solutions in Brussels, Belgium. The event will take place on November 12, 2019 from 10:00 – 12:30. Venue: TBC. This expert talk will bring together journalists, politicians, lawyers and civil society organisations with an expected audience of 20-30 people. It will create a platform to share and gather expertise on potential anti-SLAPP solutions. The education department of ETUI, in cooperation with CGT and CC.OO organise a course: “Bogus self-employed” to be held from 13- 15 November 2019 in Brussels, Belgium.
