In the framework of the project “Reaching out to atypical workers” funded by the European Commission, the European Federation of Journalists (EFJ) together with its affiliate, the National Union of Journalists (NUJ), in Ireland will organise a workshop on “Collective bargaining for atypcial workers” on 8 & 9 September in Dublin

EFJ calls for stronger rights for freelance workers

Agenda

The workshop is part of the joint project with partners FIA, UNI-MEI and FIM to address the challenges facing by unions in the sector to represent freelance workers and defend their rights. Key issues include:

  1. Collective bargaining for atypical workers in the media and cultural sector ; state of play , trends and approaches
  2. Collective bargaining and competition law: Are fundamental social rights under threat?
  3. Protecting fundamental social and labour rights under EU law
  4. Meeting the challenges for the future

Practical Information

Please notes that there are several Jurys Inn hotels in Dublin. Please specify Jurys Inn Dublin Custom House when you take any transport.

Workshop Venue

The workshop will be held in the hotel Jurys Inn Dublin Custom House (Address: 1 Custom House Quay, Dublin 1, Ireland Phone: +353 1 854 1500)

Accommodation

Participants will be staying at the same hotel where the workshop will be held (Jurys Inn Dublin Custom House). Guests whose participation cost covered by the project will not need to pay for the hotel costs. Your accommodation has already been paid by the organiser.

How to get to the hotel Jurys Inn Dublin Custom House? Bus 747

There are regular buses from Dublin airport to the city centre which takes 20 minutes. Guests can take bus 747 that comes every 15 minutes.The 747 bus stop from the airport is situated outside of the Clarion hotel which is 5-minute away from the arrival gate. The stop you need to get off the bus stop called Guild Street Jurys Hotel. From there, you have to walk for about 3 minutes to reach the Jurys Inn Dublin Custom House. Dinner and lunch

The organiser will cover one dinner on 8 September and one lunch as well as coffee breaks during the workshop.

 

Reimbursement

Participants must provide the original invoices, receipts, boarding passes and training tickets in order to get reimbursed. Taxi fare will not be reimbursed.
