Eurocadres, the Council of European Professional and Managerial Staff, is organising an event on whistleblowing on 30 October during their 4th Congress. With the support of the European Economic and Social Committee (EESC), the event will take place in Brussels, at the EESC premises in room VMA3. The overall Congress starts at 9.00, but on Monday afternoon, Eurocadres will host an event on whistleblower protection, followed by a Congress evening dinner event starting 19:00 at Grand Central. "Fake news" is currently being discussed in sensitive contexts such as the US Presidential elections, Brexit and after EU electoral campaigns. The reasons why this phenomenon is more pervasive and impactful today than ever before are the ease with which news can be posted and shared on social media, the velocity with which such news may spread, and the global reach it might effortlessly attain.
