The European Centre for Press and Media Freedom (ECPMF), the European Federation of Journalists (EFJ) and Osservatorio Balcani e Caucaso Transeuropa (OBCT) are conducting a Fact-Finding Mission to Denmark and Sweden. This is to identify best practices and recommendations for journalism and press freedom. For three days, from 16 – 18 December 2019, the delegation will meet with journalists, politicians, scientists and representatives of media organisations.
The EFJ GS will attend the ETUC ExCom meeting.
The EFJ GS and staff will meet with TGS chairman Gökhan Durmus, in order to discuss ongoing and future projects.
The EFJ staff will meet Tommaso Chiamparino, EU Coordinator on combating anti-Muslim hatred. As the Coordinator's main mandate is to address anti-Muslim hate speech, hate crime and discrimination, the key stakeholders are Muslim, and other organisations which deal with anti-racism and non-discrimination policy at European and national level.
The aim of the delegation visit is to inform stakeholders in Brussels about the current situation in Turkey and Russia and to exchange about the shrinking spaces for journalists. Organised by Friedrich-Naumann-Stiftung für die Freiheit, the meeting will be atended by EFJ Director Renate Schroeder and IFJ Head of Human Rights and Safety Ernest Sagaga
