Voices Awards: 25 prizes for journalists and media freedom advocates
The European Federation of Journalists (EFJ) is delighted to co-organise, once again this year, the third edition of Voices, the European Festival of Journalism and Media Freedom. (In case you missed it, the festival will return to Florence from 10 to 12 March 2026!) And with it comes the third round of the Voices Awards, now with more prizes!
We are awarding 25 prizes for 1,200€ each to journalists and media freedom advocates to participate in Voices 2026.
The Voices Awards are a competition that celebrates the talent and dedication of professionals who uphold media freedom. The competition features seven distinct categories for a total of 25 prizes. Read here all the eligibility criteria.
Voices Awards Categories
- Press, Radio and Podcast (4 awards)
- Video and Documentary (4 awards)
- Digital Storytelling and Social Media (4 awards)
- Cartoons and Comics (4 awards)
- Photojournalism (4 awards)
- Media Literacy (4 awards)
- Lorenzo Natali Prize – International Best Practices in Journalism (1 award).
Note that…
We welcome entries from a broad range of applicants, including:
- Media outlets (websites, blogs, podcasts, etc.)
- Freelance journalists
- Students at journalism schools and trainee journalists
- Individuals or groups active in media literacy activities
Key requirements
- Applicants (natural persons or legal entities) must be legally residing or established in the 27 EU Member States, candidate countries, or potential candidates: Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Kosovo, Montenegro, North Macedonia, Serbia, Türkiye, Georgia, Moldova, and Ukraine.
- Note that the Lorenzo Natali Prize (Category 7) is an exception, requiring applicants to be legally residing or established outside the EU-27.
